i have been having extreme hip, knee and ankle pain but no swelling. my daughter has lupus and i have been tested 4 times but my blood work comes back?

Varies: There are a lot of potential causes; usually it is some structural problem in these areas, or a radicular pain from a "pinched nerve" in the back, or an inflammatory condition.  A detailed exam and appropriate studies can usually determine the cause.  Don't hesitate to get a second opinion if they are having trouble coming up with a diagnosis.

Obvious arthritis.: Apart from pain and inability to do or enjoy normal physical activities, inflammation is damaging to the heart and blood vessels. Because of the rapid spread, and seemingly aggressive nature, she should see a rheumatologist, and if non avalable, at least and internal medicine specialist or her family practitioner.Her prob is not-orthopeadic in nature or fibromyalgia.  Too joint specific. Help her.

Left Side Pain: Have you had your back checked?  All this sounds like it may stem from the nerves from the spine.  I would see an orthopod spine specialists or neurologist.

You : You really are describing sciatica-type symptoms.  Sciatica is the result of compression on a nerve, usually a nerve root coming from the spinal cord, and can produce all sorts of sensations and pain from the hip to the foot.  It isn't something that would be visible on an x-ray, and since the cause isn't muscle, taking a muscle relaxant isn't going to help either.

I have absolutely nothing against massage therapists (i am going myself for one tomorrow morning and can't wait!), i'm not sure a massage therapist is the best source to diagnose or exclude sciatica.

Your primary medical doctor can certainly diagnose this, but orthopedic surgeons are the best at this sort of thing.

There are other causes of leg pain, like phlebitis (an inflamed clot in a vein), myositis (inflammation of a muscle), tendinitis (inflammation of a tendon) and even vasculitis (inflammation of the walls of an artery).  So rather than give you suggestions on the best treatment for something we really aren't sure it is, i would encourage you to see a doctor, get a proper diagnosis, and then the treatment would be simple.

Problems linked?: Heaviness of the leg and hip weakness may be due to a back problem (L 3-4). This would not cause pain in the ankle (local process if there truly is some swelling) I would have the muscle CPK checked (on statin drug) the weakness in the legs is typically symmetrical if due to statin drugs but can be noticed on one side initially. If these problems persist  you will need to be examined.

Get evaluated: Several things could be going on.  Cold feet can be a result of poor blood flow.  This can cause pain in an extremity.  Another possibility is nerve damage which could cause you to believe your foot is cold. Finally, the pain and cold symptoms may be unrelated.  Either way, an evaluation by your primary care physician would be a good place to start.
