should i be worried? my fsh levels are 2.5 iu/l.  they are in the low-normal of the range. also my semen is sometimes almost clear. lh lvls mid range

Levels normal: You should never be worried about normal levels.  If you are concerned about fertility, you should do a semen analysis to see if you are making sperm normally. If you are having problems with libido and/or sexual function, you should have a testosterone level done.

i know my white count is normal on 9.8. what i want to know, is why is it slightly on the high range? always. why not on the mid range? causes?

Wrong question: Please forgive my frankness. Reference ranges for labs are set so that several percent of healthy folks fall outside at either end. A few screwball internet sites give the midrange as "optimal." ignore them. There are a host of genes, known and unknown, that affect baseline counts. Life's difficult enough without your troubling yourself about the vagaries of lab tests. Give yourself a break.

i'm a female in my mid 20s, what are symptoms of high estrogen levels? are high levels bad?

It varies: Very high estrogen levels may be a sign of ovarian or adrenal tumor. In general estrogen levels vary with the menstrual cycle. Too much estrogen may cause symptoms such as breast tenderness, weight gain, bloating, water retention, irregular uterine bleeding, headaches/migraines, abnormality of the uterus (hyperplasia) which can lead cancer. Some literature suggests anxiety and depression, etc

if on tegretol 600 for 5 years is it possible that i may need to up to 800...it is in mid range about 7.0..or is 800 too high?

A few comments: Tegretol is a very old drug dating back to the 1970's, and may have benefit in treating trigeminal neuralgia or epilepsy, but due to adverse event risks has been substantially supplanted by newer and safer agents.  Of course, I am unaware of why you take this drug, so, do not self-medicate, but contact your doctor and discuss what to do next.

i've constantly got high amalyse levels (higher than normal....) 126-270 often rise to mid 200s and then stay at 120ish! my gp said unless associated ?

High amylase: May be salivary or pancreas Is  lipase high? Tha is the real sign of pancreas dysfunction. Also hi in  kidney   or liver disease.   Consider ultrasound for gallbladder/liver   or ENT for salivary glands for stones..  Bean sprouts, cashews, almonds,  chestnuts, barley, buckwheat, oats, peanuts, also contain amylase( not sure this affects ). Some  are just hi normally. f/u/ w/ doc

how does the bun/creatinin ratio relate to the egfr? both of these levels are low but both the bun and creatinin levels were right in the mid range.

Co-tango usually: The BUN is usually 10 times the creatinine. When the creatinine goes up, the BUN goes up similarly to roughly keep this proportion, in most kidney disease states.

The notable exception is when the creatinine goes up say by 20% to 1.2, but the BUN goes up *5 to 50.  This strongly suggests a pre-renal state, commonly dehydration. 

Mild elevations of BUN with normal creatinines aren't of concern.

lymph auto % is slightly high at 40.1 (range 7-40) but absolute count is normal mid range (2.2).  all other whites normal range, total wbc 5.7. worry?

Stop worrying: Percentages mean nothing. Only be concerned with the absolute counts, and even then remember they fluctuate wildly. If the cells all at normally firmed and the counts are anywhere near reference range, be thankful for good health.

Healthy Living: Yes. Of course. There is regular and active exercise; there is meditation and/or yoga; there is weight loss and improved eating with less sugar and more proteins in the diet.

Many conditions: Many conditions cause an elevated WBC count. They include bacterial infections, corticosteroid or lithium administration,  many inflammatory conditions, hemolysis, granulocyte stimulating factor administration, leukemias etc.

why would a mid-40s woman have high fsh levels and have regular periods and very high estrogen levels? this makes no sense to me based on what i've read.

Accepted Answer

Mid-40's ?'s: High FSH is a precursor to early menopause, and produces higher estrogen levels b/c the eggs require more stimulation to ovulate.  This may create "regular" periods (28-34 days apart) but without increased FSH, ovulation would not take place, and periods would be much farther apart, as a prelude to ending altogether.
