i'm a 43 year old man who suffers from high blood pressure. this evening i felt very nauseas and woozy. after a bit of rest, i woke up feeling the same. should i be concerned? i'm also feeling flashes of cold and warmth. please help if you can.

Woozy, nausea: I assume you checked your bp and it was in good control. Vertigo and nausea, especially if it's provoked or worsened by head motions is generally an inner ear disorder. These symptoms can also occur from blockages in arteries supplying the back of the brain or the cerebellum. If you can't pinpoint the symptoms to an inner ear cause, I recommend proceeding to the hospital emergency room for evaluat

Control it: Keep working on controlling it, but also realize that too sudden a drop can cause more dizziness. If your symptoms have changed suddenly please report it to your doc.

BP,dizzy: As long as BP is treated ;try working slowly up to a particular exercise level ;if persistent get a treadmill stress test to assess rhythm and BP response to exercise.

See a dr.: There is no such answer for one individual that would fit everyone for your description.  Your mom needs to be examined by a dr. And have some tests run to determine best course of action.  Need to know allergies, history, duration, etc.

Called...: Orthostatic hypotension. It means something wrong's with the regulation of your blood pressure. It should be checked out.

Not usually but: Low blood pressure frequently does.In fact, that's how we tell when BP is too low...When it makes one sick( dizzy, faint).It's easy to tell if BP is too high or low...Check it.

Yes: Blood pressure medication lowers blood pressure and if BP goes too low (usually less than 100 systolic) the low pressure can cause dizzyness when standing or getting up from lying or sitting position. BP normally does not drop when changing position but may with these meds or if salt and water depleted ("dehydrated"). If severe can cause passing out and injury. Check with MD.

Good habits: Minor high blood pressure can sometimes be controlled with a healthy diet and exercise, and avoiding salt. I do not expect dizziness and numbness to be caused by slight blood pressure elevation. That would require a more complete history and physical exam to diagnose. Feel better!
