Not really: However, you should watch out for symptoms of bowel obstruction, which a hernia can cause by trapping bowel. If food is moving through without vomiting, and the hernia is reducible, then probably unrelated. When in doubt, see your doctor.

Yes: If there is bowel in or near hernia sac it is totally possible the dissension of bowel will make hernia more pronounced. Danger is if bowel becomes trapped and dissension cannot be relieved then bowel can can be damaged and cause life threatening problems. Hernia should be evaluated by an experienced surgeon to determine the risk of fixing versus not repairing.

could a right abdominal buldge be related to uteran polyps?  buldge is caused by gas, i think.  not a hernia (had it checked).  ideas?

Not likely: It would more likely be a ventral hernia (a separation in the abdominal muscle wall allowing abdominal contents to protrude to the surface).  Another possibility would be a lipoma (benign fatty tumor), cyst or malignancy.  If it's growing, changing in size or hurting it needs to be evaluated.

i have a hiatal hernia, but have not had pain in years. could propranolol or a head cold cause similar pain (sharp pains in & above bellybutton) & gas?

Check with MD: Don't think it is due to meds. Keep in mind sometimes appendicitis pain start around belly button.

Hiatal hernia: It's possible. With Capp you are likely swallowing a great deal of forced air which can make you gassy and bloated but also force  the stochastic up through the diaphragm and create hiatal hernia and reflux. May want to discuss with doctor pressure adjustment, biPAP, HOB elevation and anti-relic meds as well as weight loss.

been having severe nausea with gas. also have a dry mouth. i have a hiatal hernia and esophagitis, is that whats causing it or could it be something else? dont know what to do as this causes anxiety at night for me?

: A documented hiatal hernia  with esophagitis may contribute to the symptoms described, but can also result from an acquired lack of the enzyme to cleave lactose, found in dairy products.  See a GI physician for evaluation and guidance.

have a hiatal hernia and ibs. can ibs cause more reflux? i get severe reflux and have been constipated for 4-5 days. ive taken a laxative but takes 6-12 hours to work. have severe nausea. as well as bloating from all the gas. not sure what to do?

: IBS is a group of symptoms but I don't see a clear effect on a hiatal hernia. If you take fiber for constipation be sure to drink plenty of water with it or else gas formation can be severe. Drinking hot water or applying heat to the abdomen helps break down gas into smaller bubbles. Drink flat ginger ale for nausea. If you have the urge &amp; can't move, use dulcolax suppository or fleets enema.

can scar tissue from umbilical hernia surgery cause pelvic/groin pain from having gas? can too much beer (8-9) 2wks post op tear internal sutures?

Unlikely but -: this is unlikely - you may do well to consult your surgeon.
8-9 beer a day is way too much under any circumstance and not helpful to healing be careful- listen to your body and lay off
