Topical steroid: Avamys is fluticasone furoate. In the us Veramyst contains the same topical corticosteroid. Corticosteroids are anti-inflammatory. They do no have the same effects or side-effects associated with androgens, muscle-building drugs commonly referred to as "steroids". Avamys helps control the allergic reaction at many points. Side-effects - pain, bleeding - are due to the irritation of the jet spray.

any change in temperature or humidity makes my ears 'pop open' after a couple of hours. a 'misty' mucous forms in my nasal passages. any treatment?

A decongestive: oral medication can help  (anti-histamine /decongestive eg Xyrtec D)  as well as a NASAL spray like AFRIN!

i had pink eye and was put on ointment treatment until last friday.  have congested nasal passages and drainage.  it is sunday evening & have sore throat with a couple of small white spots. no fever.

I would get things: Checked, the spots mat be pockets of infection.  I would request a nasal steroid.  Use this at night, post nasal drip becomes antiinflammatory, helping throat, helping allergies, less hand to face, less contraction of viruses which can lead to bacterial infection.  You may need antibiotics though; gargle with warm salt water every couple hours and use aleve or other medicine 4 discomfort.

Yes: Long term dehydration can always have dire consequences. If you see extreme dehydration, the consequences can only be even more serious. Dehydration can cause dry mucous membranes. And does membranes when they get to dry, be easy to get irritated and inflamed. Congestion can follow any kind of inflammation. If you or anyone you know has,"extreme dehydration", go to the closest Emergency room.

Nasal saline spray: The first thing to try is simple nasal saline spray which you can get over-the-counter. Use it as directed. Also, there are some brands of "saline nasal gel" which can be sprayed or applied with a cotton swab to your nasal membranes. You might have allergic rhinitis or possibly some other underlying disorder causing the dryness. See your provider within a few days if the saline doesn't help.

Infection: Your symptoms are more characteristic of a flu like viral upper respiratory tract infection than allergic reaction to pollen and dust particles. This should resolve in several days of rest, drinking adequate fluids, cough syrup and acetaminophen as needed. High fever,shaking chills night sweats, worsening cough, wheezing or shortness of breath would indicate a need to consult a physician,however.

Several suggestions: If it is just over the last few days then otc sudafed and older drying antihistamines such as Benadryl (diphenhydramine)  can help.  This time of year start to see tree pollen allergy so allergy meds may help.  If unilateral watery drainage continues then possible spinal fluid leak from sinuses so would need ENT eval.
