Stop worrying: The worst that can happen is some heavy-duty bleeding and a trip to the operating room. A fraction of a percent of kidney biopsies are followed by this adventure, but i'd be much more worried about not having a tissue diagnosis on that cyst.

No.: Follow up with your primary care physician. Only go to the er if you have an acute issue that needs immediate attention.

Multiple features: Complex cysts, vs. Simple cysts, share common walls with other cysts, have solid components in the walls, or calcifications.

The radiologist will opine if features look suspicious and either recommend a repeat ultrasound in 6 months, or a ct to further clarify.

It is a round fluid: Filled ball like mass that has divisions in it and looks like it is filled with blood. A simple cyst has no internal divisions. Like a grapefruit would be complex but a blown up balloon simple!!

: Renal cysts ;there are several varieties those that appear to be pre-cancerous, which are usually the septated or lobulated ones. Benign renal cyst are usually hollow or filled with fluid and circular without any complexity. Consultation with urologist is indicated to determine if a renal cyst is serious or not or needs further evaluation.

Few: assuming that a qualified radiologist or urologist has determined that you have a simple renal cyst, there is certainly no need to treat this surgically. Simple cysts are not associated with renal cancer or renal stones.  Cysts that do not meet the criteria of a simple cyst need observation but rarely intervention.

what are the chances of a bosniak iif kidney cyst changing over time into something worse? how quickly do they tend to change if they are going to?

Unlikely: But best to continue to monitor - us is probably the best modality; no radiation risk/least expensive.....
