FInd the cause: Treat the person, not the lab value. There are over 100 different causes of anemia, and each needs to be managed differently. If your physician has not explained the cause and best treatment, insist that he/she do this for you.  If the workup is ongoing, ask that it be explained.

Anemia: Anemia can be due to several different things.  Usually it is associated with iron deficiency, bleeding or b12/folate (folic acid) deficiency.  You will most likely be placed on iron supplements and folate (folic acid).  These usually help.

had blood test hemoglobin came back 11.4 range is 11.6-15. other times it was in normal range. blood test done every 3 months. what can this be from? can diet be the cause? dr repeating blood test. is this a major concern? or serious? thank you?

: Good to repeat it first.  Why is it being done every 3 months?  Once a year is usually good if nothing else going on,

Blood tx prior surg: You should get blood transfusion to increase your hemoglobin in a safer level. Surgery can be done- however we try to minimize the possible complication as much as possible. If the tumors are actively bleeding, multiple blood transfusion need to be given before, during and perhaps after surgery. But, yes the best thing to correct the anemia in this case is by stopping the bleeding.

Anemic: This means that you are mildly anemic. The most common cause of anemia in young women is iron deficiency due to menstrual blood loss and/or recent pregnancy/delivery of a child. If iron deficiency is found to be the cause of anemia, iron supplementation should correct the problem.

hi i recently had lab work done & my rbc is 3.25,my hemoglobin  is 9.5 and my hematocrit is 30.1. my a1c is also 4.0, iron normal what could this mean

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that,  You are anemic and that requires investigation. What do you mean by normal iron. In menstruating women iron deficiency is the commonest cause of anemia. It would be prudent to consult your doctor to ascertain the cause of anemia and treat the cause.

having surgery done soon and my bloods test are rbc 3.57 mil hemoglobin 12.3 gm hematocrit 35.3 % mcv 98.9 fl mch 34.4 pg platelets 378 k/ul. will thee prevent me from having ablation and tub removal?

every few months my hemoglobin drops from normal to life threatening lows in minutes(last being 3.9). i get cold,shake,muscle and joint pain especially in legs.been to the hospital many times needing transfusions. done lots of tests but no answer?

Need to examine: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. If examination by doctors who gave you transfusions has not resolved the matter, it is not possible to do it in this forum.

hi there, i got my two and half year old son and he is not feeling well. so we just done his some body test as doctor requested. in results his esr gone to 60 which should be 0-10 and  he has just 7gm hemoglobin in his body. so what should i do and what's

See dr again!: The increased ESR may be caused by the anemia. However, the hemoglobin of 7 is quite low. If you know these results i suspect you learned them from the dr's office; what does your doctor plan to do? The reason for his anemia must be further evaluated and needs to be treated once the cause is identified.
