Probably Coincidence: Feeling sick is probably not related to your teeth cleaning. It's most likely a coincidence. Having your teeth cleaned is a very predictable & conservative procedure. If your gums are very unhealthy, it's possible that you swallowed some blood...That can make you feel nauseous. It's also possible that you swallowed a bit more Fluoride medicine than you should have...Same symptoms. It should pass.

Blood: Your gums may be bleeding a bit after your cleaning, which is, after all, a limited surgical procedure.  Blood can have a coppery taste.  If it persists for more than a few days, call you Dentist for reexamination.

i had my teeth cleaned today and a fluoride paste put on, i ate within half an hour and got severely nauseated, was it the fluoride that caused this?

Possibly: More likely however that you may have inadvertently swallowed some of the fluoride during treatment. It could also be coincidental.

: I see no reason to alter your training program for this type of treatment. The materials used and the type of procedure have negligible effect on your system. Take a day off if you want, but don't blame the procedure.

Probably a bruise: A dark spot on the gum appearing shortly after dental work may be due to an "bruise" of the gum.  A spontaneous dark area on the gum, or a dark spot after dental work which does not go away within a few weeks should be investigated by a doctor.  RARELY, melanoma or other cancers can appear this way.

Not long: Within two weeks you should have your retainers. But to be sure, ask your orthodontist.

Don't do it: Never heard of it. Anything in the temperature of steam is too hot for our mouth. It maybe used for dentures. See a dentist for a proper examination and a normal cleaning.

3. Get a water pik and use it twice a day am
and right before bed

4 use the toothbrush your dentist reccommends ( i like a motorized tooth brush for my patients )

Brush, floss, repeat: Standard brushing and flossing, 2-3x/day is the recommendation.  Dental visits every 4-12 months based on your caries and gum history and dentist recommendation.
