Many things: Nose bleeds can be spontaneous if the nasal passages are too dry.  Nose bleeds can occur from nose picking, trauma from probing into the nose and direct trauma. Less common causes are in relationship to the menstrual cycle, and sometimes due to uncommon nasal tumors such as polyps.  If you have these recurrently, then you should see an ENT doctor for a better diagnosis and treatment.

Nose-picking/rubbing: Their finger nails are thin and razor-sharp.  When the inside of nose is itchy/dry, picking the inside of nose and/or rubbing it hard can cause bleeding. It is  very common. If bleeding stops quickly, i would not worry. Just make sure that the nose is kept nosturized in dry/cold weather and treat allergies/cold symptoms to minimize itching, thus picking/rubbing. If worse, consult doc. Good luck.

Yes: In the absence of high blood pressure, diabetes or vascular disease involving the nose, probably the most common drugs that may lead to frequent nose bleeds are anti-coagulants that are most commonly used in atrial fibrillation, coronary artery disease, thrombotic diseases that may complicate thrombotic-phlebitis. Plavix, coumadin, (warfarin) and Heparin are common drugs used as anticoagulants.

Dry air: Dry air may affect the lining of the nose over a plexus of blood vessels, called Little's area. This is usual site of nose bleeds.

Depends: Most nose bleed are from the blood vessels in the front of the nose. Pinch your nose, breathe through your mouth, lean forward and hold the nose pinched from 2-5 minutes. If that does not control the bleeding it would be prudent to go to the nearest hospital.

i am 27 years and havr never had a nose bleed so when it happened this morning it surprised me. i want to know what can cause this to happen?

Nose bleeds: You may have a cold and the mucus eroded the small blood vessels in your nose, or you may have high blood pressure, or possibly you picked your nose during sleep.

so last night i had a nosebleed out of nowhere, like i woke up to a nose bleed, dont know what caused it, then i was using the restroom, another nosebleed. please help i dont know what it is?

: It's common in the winter time especially if the air in your house is dry because of heating. If bleeding comes out anteriorly and it stops within minutes by pushing the ala to the septum on the bleeding side, the bleeding is from the fragile kiesselbach plexus then you have nothing to worry. If nosebleed recurs quite often in the next couple days or it takes a long time to stop, see your doctor.
