what pain pill stops the pain caused by sciatic and femoral nerve damage?

Few 'stop' the pain: It depends on what you mean by 'damage': crushed nerve?Inflamed nerve?Torn/cut nerve?Narcotics are often first-line for severe pain.If pain is due to inflammation, many drs may try steroids or NSAIDS, nerve stabilizers &amp; anti-depressants.If the nerve is actually intact, but causes neuropathic pain, I'd recommend neuroprolotherapy to quiet the nerve.If effective, it actually DOES stop the pain.

i got femoral nerve damage from the nerve block given at the time of my acl surgery.. 12 months post op and i still cant lift my leg. will i ever be able to?

Neurology consult: Need to know exact block, what local anesthetic used and concentration. Also should look into how the lev was placed during surgery to see if pressure on the nerve was possible during procedure. 
Most likely will need an EMG to identify nerve affected and when injury occurred.

See your orthopod: If you tore your patellar tendon, this should be fixed, even if you have a femoral nerve palsy.  See an orthopedic surgeon for evaluation and treatment sooner rather than later.

: A 10 minute lithotomy position should not be the etiology of an entrapment nerve syndrome.

Depends: It depends on the tissue density.  The denser the tissue, the more heat is generated.

i have costochondritis from years of working out. went a little too heavy last friday. having sternum pain hurts to the touch and in occasion hurts when i cough. even lying down makes it worse. ice or heat therapy for it?

Accepted Answer

: Strenuous workouts with weights can result in separation of a rib from the sternal plate, causing the pain described.  If the pain persists, see a physician for a chest x-ray to establish this cause.  Best is to stop lifting which may allow the rib to reattach to the sternum.

Yuo could either one: Cold therapy produces vasoconstriction, which slows circulation reducing inflammation, muscle spasm, and pain.
Heat therapy induces vasodilation: drawing blood into the target tissues. Increased blood flow delivers needed oxygen and nutrients, and removes cell wastes. The warmth decreases muscle spasm, relaxes tense muscles, relieves pain, and can increase range of motion.

how often do you apply heat therapy to a sports injury that is chronic?

Controversial: Often ice is best.  There may be situations where one needs to loosen up an area and heat may be applied.  Some deep injuries may need some heat but ice prevents swelling and releves pain.  Depending on your injury and need, you should consult with a sports medicine doctor, and physical therapist with interest in your areas of injury.

Esophagus: After a bypass your stomach can only hold a small amount of food or liquid . Any excess stays in the esophagus  . It isn't supposed to be there so the esophagus cramps up  trying to force the food down . These spasms are a strong message to stop putting so much into your mouth .  Please contact your primary provider to evaluate this further if it dosen't resolve soon
