is my heart rate normal if it goes quickly from low to high?

Accepted Answer

Yes: Responsiveness to physiologic need is a sign of health. Going up quickly is normal assuming you're not going from 80 to 240!  but if you go from 80 to 120 (the exact numbers depend on age) and then come back down quickly with rest, you're very healthy! (hr should drop 10% within 1 minute of cool down).

i'm currently not taking any medications. i wake up and my heart rate is high 90's to low 100's everyday. should this be a concern?

It may be, but: You have provided so little information that it would be difficult to guess,  at 45 years old you should probably discuss this with your doctor.

this morning, when i woke up, before i got out of bed i took heart rate, it was 49, is that bad? later in day it was high 60's & low 70's..should i be worried about this..i am 59 and dont really do exercise..first time for this & feel fine otherwise?

: A low resting heart rate can be seen with an "athletic or fit" heart but could also be the result of beta blockers. If you are taking a beta blocker for high blood pressure, then that is the cause. If asymptomatic, it is not a significant concern, but you should discuss with your family doc to be certain.

Athletic heart: Since you are concerned about this condition, I would consult your family doctor to make sure everything is OK with your heart.  There are some painless tests that he/she can run to determine if there are any problems.

Usually it's fast: Usually, if it would cause anything it would be fast heart beat, if very high and associated with diabetic ketoacidosis (dka), but if it's severe, especially at the level of hyperosmolar hyperglycemic syndrome (hhs) then it can be associated with slow heart beat - but then you'd be severely ill with a reduced level of consciousness.

Absolutely not: Normal range for fetal heart rate is 110 to 160.  Your baby's heart rate is perfect.  So long as you have good fetal movement, everything is fine.

Afib: Any previous history of irregular heartbeat? She will need to have at least an ekg done to confirm a possible arrhythmia. Talk to your doctor.

i am taking 10mg of adderall and notice my heart rate is often 100-130 with minimal exertion. i am concerned this is too high? is it damaging my heart? resting can get down to high 80s low 90s but the majority of the day it is well over 100?

: Although Adderall can make the heart rate increase, this would not damage your heart. If you’re resting heart rate is that high on Adderall, you should return to the physician who prescribed it for you to discuss whether you need to adjust the dosage or get off of the medication. Good luck.
