heart pacemaker - alcohol question.  can you drink if you have a pacemaker?

Drink: Yes you can. I would strongly suggest moderation , one beer, or one glass of wine only. Alcohol ingestion is bad for you even without a pacemaker.

dull pain right arm 3 weeks dr said ecg fine. bp 160 over 90. had ck test. on beta blockers & aspirin. is this heart or alcohol problem. smoke 40 day?

Need more testing: Just because your EKG was normal does not necessarily mean you have no cardiac issues.  If you smoke heavily and have persistent extremity pain of unknown significance, it would probably be in your best interest to have a stress test performed.  This can potentially aid in determining if your pain is of cardiac origin.  I don't see how alcohol could play a role in this.

supposing you had myocarditis (inflammation of heart) caused by alcohol. would cessation restore your heart to its normal state and after how long?

Myocardiopathy: If you have myocardial damage due to alcohol, cessation of alcohol is absolutely necessary. If it is stopped before too much damage is done, then decent function may remain. Myocarditis is not exactly the pathology of alcohol damage which is toxicity rather than primarily inflammatory.

Yes, usually: Unless the underlying reason for the cardiac condition is not alcohol related or exacerbated, social consumption of alcohol should not be a problem. Best to discuss with one's own physician.

elevated total creatine kinase but normal creatine kinase -mb... does that means the elevation is not coming from the heart??
also... can alcohol abuse lead to elevated total creatine kinase? 
my level was 350?

: It is possible for the measured creatine kinase to come from muscles or the heart; the MB fraction is used to differentiate that coming from the heart and MM for that coming from the muscles. You are right that the MB fraction as well as Troponin helps to determine if there is heart muscle injury and alcohol may contribute because of tendency to injury to muscles and others like nerves and liver.

i have blood mixed with stool and also have seen dark color blood sometimes in clots after wiping. also feels like i get bad heart burn after alcohol.

Two pieces of advice: 1) Please see my prior HealthTap responses regarding blood in stool, which may signal a potentially serious condition that warrants immediate attention.
2) Would advise you stop drinking alcohol at this time, or at least until #1 above is addressed.

Generally yes: Check with your doc, but in general, alcohol in moderation is ok after you are healed from your surgery.

: Alcohol can trigger tachycardia. If you already have an irregular heartbeat and you know that alcohol has this effect on you I would highly recommend that you stop drinking alcohol. Repeat bouts of Tachycardia can cause problems including: fainting, weakness, stroke, heart failure, heart attack and sudden death.
