my 6 yr old is a normal healthy child but today i noticed that her left tonsil is almost touching her uvula and it looks like it goes back bout1/2inch?

Tonsillitis: If your child is nit composing if a sore throat, fever or difficulty in swallowing, I would make a note to get it checked at the next doctor's appointment. For further satisfaction I would make sure there aren't any big or painful nodes in his neck, arm pit or groin that were not felt before.  In most cases tonsils r enlargement start to subside after 7-8 yrs of age.

dear health tap, i have pretty severe congestion and my uvula is super swollen. can i take an antihistamine (claritin or benedryl) and also take nyquil so i can get some sleep tonight? thanks so much, in desperate need of advice?

: The NyQuil already has Benadryl in it-that is the ingredient that makes you sleepy after you take it. So, do not take any additional antihistamine with the NyQuil. Are you breathing ok? If you are short of breath, go to the nearest ER to get evaluated. What is causing the congestion? If you don’t know why you are congested, you need a diagnosis and treatment so see a doctor. dear dr. my daughter is 2 months and 1 week old. she has a cleft uvula, with a healthy palate. she recently got an ear infection too. i'm worried whet?

Question not clear: It seems your question was cut off, or at least it is not clear. Kids with a cleft uvula can have an unseen v-shaped cleft buried in the palate.It has little significance long term.In the short term these kids are somewhat more likely to have recurrent middle ear fluid and infections from Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Hard to say: Many mouth breathers may have obstructive sleep apnea, which can lead to serious heath problems if not appropriately diagnosed and treated. On the other hand, something as simple as enlarged nasal turbinates could be the cause—easily corrected. Start with your primary care giver, and plan on breathing easier!

Yes: It is safe to give mouth to mouth respirations to healthy and not so healthy people. Very few (if any) infections could be transmitted by mouth to mouth breathing. That said, many people do not feel comfortable performing mouth to mouth breathing, particularly on a stranger. If this is the case, chest compression only CPR (no mouth breathing) has been shown to be an effective way to perform cpr.

Mouth: pulling to the left means you need to find the cause of it.  It could be a side effect of medication, the result of a mini-stroke, muscle or nerve damage.  Please do see your doctor.  He/she will help you figure this out and treat you accordingly.  Peace and good health.

Proper dental care: simple - brush your teeth, floss and use antiseptic mouth wash at least twice a day.  Floss and brushing are more important than mouth wash

Salty taste: Some people with hyperaldosteronism get this due to high  K in saliva. I specialize in this. Lets do 2nd opinion and figure out what is going on.
