Dear health tap, i have pretty severe congestion and my uvula is super swollen. can i take an antihistamine (claritin or benedryl) and also take nyquil so i can get some sleep tonight? thanks so much, in desperate need of advice?

The NyQuil already has Benadryl in it-that is the ingredient that makes you sleepy after you take it. So, do not take any additional antihistamine with the NyQuil. Are you breathing ok? If you are short of breath, go to the nearest ER to get evaluated. What is causing the congestion? If you don’t know why you are congested, you need a diagnosis and treatment so see a doctor. I take benadryl at night, i have allergies, and when im going to sleep i start itching in different places and when i get up that happens again, why is it doing that? i take claritin during the day and it dont do that, its mostly after i take benadry?
