Not necessarily: It us not so much a matter of the pyramid being no good anymore, as it is one of improving awareness in the setting of better information. The plate model is more understandable and easier to implement in practice. And it recognizes that food groups generally niter-relate more than fit into kaye's or steps. Speaking f pates - for health, portion control is key - so se smaller plates!

The food pyramid has nothing to do with your health. 
If you want to eat healthy, ignore the food pyramid. Avoid eating sugars, limit your intake of carbohydrates, consume healthy fats in the form of meat, fish, poultry, eggs, chees.

Balanced meals: You can look at the recommnended food plate or the old food pyramid...Basically though eating a variety of foods and a variety of colors is helpful. According to one nutritionist i know, she recommends eating at every meal one carb and 2 proteins or 2 carbs and one protein. We should all have leafy greens, fruits (anything that grows from a flower) and protein- which can come from many sources.

The food pyramid: has been replaced by the "food plate" which you can find on the net.  Many well trained in clinical nutrition believe that it is not much of an improvement.  A visit to a clinical nutritionist is your best bet.  Peace and good health. Government RDAs are very low.  Over the counter daily vitamins are typically weak.

Governement plate: I prefer the new government plate which is 1/4 plate as protein, 1/4 plate as complex carbs, 1/4 as fruit and 1/4 as vegetables.  You can also have 1/2 the plate as vegetables if you want. www.choosemyplate.gov.
