when i had pituitary surgery, my head was secured during surgery. woke up with wound in hair. will they secure head like that for septoplasty?

Probably Not: When you had pituitary surgery, they placed your head in a so-called "halo."  This is a device that has small metal bolts that hold the skull in place during surgery to prevent movement and sometimes to help with localization.  This sort of contraption is not necessary for septoplasty, which is considered to be a less dangerous/risky procedure.

how long after septoplasty should my head be elevated?

72 hours adequate: I typically recommend that people sleep on a few pillows and ice the eyes and nose for the first three days. Swelling tends to peak during this period and then begins to decline.

i had undergone fess and septoplasty on 19th sept. but still i have sometimes slight head heaviness as it used to be earlier.

Ask your ENT: If it has been a while ( over 1-2 weeks) and you are getting little or no relief, you need to see the doc that performed the FESS in the original procedure to decide next steps...

Not recommended: This is not typically advised. Although it may loosen crust, it may also cause vasodilatation and an increased tendency for bleeding. However, individual surgeons may vary in their recommendations and i would discuss without operating surgeon.

had fess & septoplasty on 19th.had bilateral sphenoid sinus which caused head heaviness. i still sometimes have similar head heaviness.i am scared.

See ENT: if your symptoms are worrisome, and have lasted more than a week or so, you need to have your sinuses, etc, re-evaluated by the MD that did the FESS procedure in the first place. Make the call...

i had btl sphenoidotomy and septoplasty/turnbinate done 3 weeks ago, i still have extreme head pressure and headaches, how long will it last. ?

Need to check w/ doc: Post-operative complications need to be managed by the doctor that performed the procedure. If this is 3 weeks later, I'm wondering 'what's going on' &amp; I would think you definitely need to get back in there to be seen. You may need to start by going to the E.R. if there's any kind of resistance. I would call the surgeon first and find out if u can be seen today in the office. Hope you feel better.

i had a septoplasty 4 days ago. now i feel like a cannot clear my ears and i have a headache in the back of my head. any suggestions ?

Congestion: You may have some congestion secondary to the surgery. Hypertonic saline rinses may help. Or you can try a decongestant.

Nose job: Yes. After surgery on the nasal septum you can expect head pain to last a while (eg. Several weeks to go away). Your nasal membrane is very sensitive, the lining of the bones to which it is attached is very sensitive. Imagine it like you got a good punch in the nose. It would hurt for a while.

having septoplasty/sinus surgery in 3 days. im 4th day into vicious head cold. cant breathe out of either nostril. should surgery be  postponed?

Maybe if elective: If a surgery is elective (not needing to be done right away), one can reschedule it to a better time when an acute illness has resolved.

Probaby: normal post-operative pain...suggest ICE and contact your treating ENT specialist for suggestions/I ASSUME you have a follow-up visit arranged...if pain INCREASING do not wait!!
