after head injury how long does it take before you can be sure there is no blood clot in the brain?

Depends: This depends on the mechanism of injury and age of the patient. Majority of head injuries lead to bleeding immediately after impact, due to disruption of blood vessels in the tissues. If an initial ct does not show any bleeding, risks are relatively low to have a delayed bleeding.

what is bilateral subdural hematoma? is bilateral subdural hematoma a type of head injury ? & what causes it ? my daughter had surgery for this to remove blood clot it only lasted 60 mins ? the doctor said it wasnt a emergency surgery?

: A subdural hematoma describes bleeding underneath the dura mater covering the brain.  Bilateral describes such a process on both sides.  Most often this is due to head injury but not always, as hematological and deficient clotting issues can promote bleeding, and this can be experienced when taking anticoagulants.  If there is a question of causation, a full evaluation is necessitated.

two lumps mid left shin. painful to touch and use. present for 3-4 weeks. visible raising of skin. no injury that i recall. blood clot?

Accepted Answer

Uncertain: Very wide range of possibilities here from deep bruise to localized vein thrombus to a process called erythema nodosum- inflammation related usually to a medicine or immune reaction.  The duration for 3-4 weeks means that if it is not improving, you should see your primary care physician and have them look at it.

had an injury near eye .. thrz a blood clot which looks like a dark mark only its red . how will it go away? .. its been ten days ..

Subconjunctiva.bleed: If the bleeding is only under the outer layer of the eye it usually takes about 10 to 14 days to resolve on its own. Do get your vision tested if there is a change or if you are also seeing spots or floaters.

i suddenly got a deep reddish purple round stain under the skin of my right pinkie finger, near the last joint that bends by the nail. its opposite the nail. though i had no injury, i'm worried that its a blood clot.

Sprained finger?: Perhaps you twisted it without realizing it? If you don't have bruising or stains like that elsewhere, then watch it to see if it gets worse.  It's an odd place for a blood clot without trauma. If other purple stains or this one painful or worsening, don't ignore it.

Depends: Depends on the severity of the hemorrhage. As an oculoplastc specialist i deal with blunt trauma all the time but i leave the retina issues to a retinal specialist and concern myself with the bones. Hopefully one of the excellent retinal specialists on this forum will answer.  As a general rule, the longer the vision remains poor and is not improving, the poorer the prognosis.

Depends: A blow hard enough to disrupt vessels under the retina, will likely have caused some damaged to the retina itself.  The clot disturbs the nutrition of the retina and moves it out of focus.  Given some time, this will absorb and then you can see what vision is remaining.  You should be followed by a retina specialist.

3 years ago i got diagnosed with blood clots...i'm on no medication for them currently...i'm suffering with pins n needles in my head regularly??

Unrelated: don't know where you had the blood clots, but you received treatment and stopped already, pins and needles feeling in your head can be due to nerve affection, not due to vascular problem, unless the nerves in that area become ischemic (devoid of blood supply) but hence the symptom would be rather different pain sensation, which isn't your case. See your doctor who may refer you to a neurologist

i've been experiencing some discomfort in the back lower part of my head.it feels really weird.what is that? do i have a tumor or a forming blood clot?

Hard to tell: Although it is probably not emergent, there can be a pathology contributing to the sensation you describe. I would make an appointment with your doctor so they can rule some possibilities like tumor, muscle pain, infection, etc.
A blood clot that moves to the brain is a medical emergency. If you suddenly feel one-sided body weakness, cannot smile or speak, that is your cue to get to the er!
