Head injury: Eye swelling and severe headache sounds more like a head injury. You can certainly have a head injury associated with a neck injury. Head injuries can be caused by rotational forces without direct impact to your skull (like in a neck injury). You definitely need to get checked out by your doc!

i am unclear what kind of trauma was involved; i would get over to an emergency room for an evaluation.

Tension type HA: Cervical alignment and Muscle balance are frequently lost after motor vehicle accidents, causing pressure on cervical nerve outflow. Some of them innervate the greater occipital nerves which Can cause many headaches. A PMR doc can evaluate this, prescribe physical therapy or give injections to relax muscles or desensitize nerves, and meds to help. Cervical pillows can help til them]n. Good luck

This condition is thousand times more common than carotid artery dissection as the cause of neck pain. Furthermore, besides neck pain other associated symptoms are also present in carotid dissection.

Hello. : Hello.  Your symptoms are quite suggestive of a concussion. The following are possible symptoms of a concussion: headache, nausea, vomiting, confusion, blurred vision, slurred speech, weakness, feeling dazed, numbness, lack of coordination, problems with short term memory, dizziness as well as repeating things over and over.  You can develop a concussion with or without loss of consciousness. The soft tissue injury to a neck could present with stiffness, pain, tenderness, swelling or bruising to the neck. The concussion effects the brain itself. Take care. I hope you feel better soon.

It's not surprising: In fact, I can't recall a disc damage patient who didn't have headache. Discuss w/ your treatment provider for referral to proper therapist to strengthen muscles, etc. Legitimate Back Pain programs may exist in your area. I'm glad they're brief, but check out help. Most likely muscle: While this is most likely muscular pain, any change in back or neck pain when you have history of a syrinx, should be examined to look for any neurologic changes. I would recommend follow up with your neurologist just to be safe. If the pain continues to get better, its less concerning and most likely musculature. If it radiates, causes weakness, gets worse, recommend seeing neurologist sooner.

You have been evalau: From your  background information I see you have been evaluated. Was the MRI of the brain or the neck? How was the diagnosis of benign intercranial hypertension made? When you discuss this with your physician. Diltiazem is a calcium channel blocker  and can cause headaches. Was it given for headaches. Your physician can help clarify this.
