Yes: Sucralfate serves more of a "coating" function for the stomach so it may help with your symptoms and worth a try.  You may also wish to try some neutralizing agents like Tums or bicarbonate (sodium bicarbonate) containing antacids.  Some alternative/natural agents also include manuka honey, parsley extract, ginger root, among others may also help.  Make sure you have been evaluated for h pylori.

: Coughing can be a sign of bronchospasm, just like wheezing. So, if you have asthma and this is a dry cough, it is most likely due to bronchospasm. You can treat it with a bronchodilator as well as steroid inhaler. See your doctor if you need prescriptions for these inhalers. If your shortness of breath increases, go to an ER or urgent care. Chronic hoarseness should be thoroughly investigated by ENT doctor particularly in a smoker.
