Coughing can be a sign of bronchospasm, just like wheezing. So, if you have asthma and this is a dry cough, it is most likely due to bronchospasm. You can treat it with a bronchodilator as well as steroid inhaler. See your doctor if you need prescriptions for these inhalers. If your shortness of breath increases, go to an ER or urgent care.
