Not the best place: The question here is what do you think the emergency would be in your case, or are you ready to be treated as not an emergency in ER? You will absolutely be in the wrong store. You need a good bowel movement and from OTC laxatives to prune juice it would be whatever it takes. Sometimes light exercise or just relaxing and taking the time on the toilet is all it takes.

Might try this: An enema, from your grocery store or pharmacy can be tried.   You can use the instrument again with some mineral oil.  If failure and having pain and bleeding, see your doctor.   Get well

So many options...: Your described stool frequency, at once a week, deserves evaluation. 1st, you are taking constipating medication--ask your prescribing doctor to re-visit iron pills. 2nd, if no tests have been yet accomplished, see a GI doctor to rule out metabolic disease (e.g. hypothyroidism), partial obstruction, inflammation, anatomic defects (check colon), functional problem (e.g. Hirschprung's, etc.), more.

No bm: Stay well hydrated (at least 8 - 8 ounces glasses of water per day). Try to get in 5 servings of vegetables and 4 servings of fruit per day – get that fiber in. Stay physically active if possible. There are a number of over the counter laxatives that can be taken orally to help pass retained fecal matter. See your medical provider if unable to pass stool after these options have been tried.

Exam: You must be examined to evaluate the cause of your constipation: I advise 8-10 glasses of water/day. fiber. fresh fruits and vegetables. OK to use 1 scoop or Miralax (polyethylene glycol) in 8 oz of water at bedtime only.

It might be,,: If you've got kidney stones, part of the reason may be that your fluid intake is low.  This may explain your constipation and the blood in your urine is likely due to the stone and may also be helped by more fluid intake.  At any rate you should see your doctor fast about this so you can get treated and stop permanent kidney damage.  Good luck.

hi i just started birth control 2 weeks ago and i went poop and there was no blood in the bowl but when i wiped this mucus came out and it was bloody i looked and i haven't had any spotting or anything like that?

: If was fresh blood only on the paper it was most likely from a benign cause such as hemorrhoids or anal fissure. I don't think inflammatory bowel disease is an issue here.   If blood with or after a BM continues,your gynecologist can examine your rectum and advise you.  He/she may then refer you to a proctologist or gastroenterologist if deemed advisable.

Constipation: If this is very unusual for you or if you have symptoms of abdominal distension, severe abdominal cramping or pain, nausea or vomiting you must be examined promptly by a physician to check for a mechanical obstruction. Try an enema: You might do better using an enema and also the mineral oil or drinking citrate of magnesium.  But you really need to find the cause of the constipation.  Need fiber in your diet and get thyroid checked.
