hello dr tsai, my dad has just had a eye operation, however is suffering bladder retention after general anesthesia.how long can this be prolonged for?

See remark: I am sure he must have had some trouble voiding before the surgery.Within 24 hrs he should be able to void.General anesthesia "depresses " our strength ,&amp; function for usually short period of time after surgery.

why is it so hard for me to focus on every day task?

Depression, ADD?: You may simply be exhausted, or perhaps depressed about something.  More remotely, you may have add if this has been a long-standing issue.  Your doc or a mental health professional can help. I encourage you to see one.  Peace and good health.

i find that when a task does not interest me, or a job, it becomes very hard to concentrate. why?

More info needed: There could be a lot of reasons for your difficulties, but you have to put in context and see for example if you actually have similar issues in other settings; 
it could be boredom, or a sign of something else going that you might want to a conversation with your doctor about...

i have had a previous injury 9 years ago and have had problems ever since. it can be hard to move/take on daily every day tasks with out severe pain. what could this be? what can be done to help me?

In-office visit: It's a complex picture.   You need to see a doctor in person who can evaluate the source of the pain.  Even more important is to get into an appropriate rehabilitation program to teach your body to function again.  You should call RIC (Rehab institute of Chicago) and make an appointment with a physiatrist who works with chronic pain

what is wrong if your blacking out in a rage towards people. dont hold concentration at tasks. feel hatred towards nearly anything alive?

Lots: Aside from the fact that your life is chaotic, unhappy, and dangerous ?  These may be symptoms of a profound depression or a serious character disorder.
Not all therapists are comfortable working with such a patient, but there are therapists who are.  Find one and improve your life and quite possibly extend your lifespan.

Get Evaluated: After reading your listed questions, i gather you are having some difficulty in making decisions, not being able to finish assigned tasks or get organized, and maybe not realizing that psychiatry medicine is not the same as behavioral psychology. Unless you are already attending med school or planning to do so. 
Anyway, i recommend you get tested for adult add, complete physical and lab work.

how hard is it to miss a retinal tear thats big enough to need laser?

Retinal tear.: This depends on the size, location in the retina and the method used to examine the retina.  And sometimes suspicion may necessitate a second examination.

for past 2 months when laying down for bed left hip gets real sharp pain and gets hard for me to move with out tearing up. what's wrong ?

Your description: of the symptoms doesn't supply enough information for a good visual of the issue, but a 20 year old should not be having that amount of hip pain,  Would recommend a visit to your doctor for an exam

bm today and there was bright blood streaked on it. looked and saw a red tear or cut at the opening of the anus. what is it?

Anus fissure: The skin of the anus can tear during a hard bowel movement.  It should heal in a day or two provided bowel movements are soft - increase water intake and fiber intake.  Sitting in a warm bath can also soothe irritation and keep the area clean

in august of 2015 hit the back part of his head really hard and it is still hurting, to the point he wakes up in tears. he has white pimple things all?

It's hard to imagine: that one could have head trauma a year ago, still hurting to the point of tears, and not have had a neurological work up. Skull fracture, concussion, subdural hematoma, etc all should have been excluded by now. Head pain at this point now may not be related to original trauma. It almost sounds like condition now, with "white pimple things", might be shingles. Return to Doc for further eval.
