See a podiatrist....: It sounds like an arthritic bone ridge that is forcing a nerve to be compressed and irritated when you wear shoes.  It may be as simple as stretching out your shoes over this area, or having the bony lump smoothed down surgically.

See a foot doc: Without seeing it hard to know if your referring to a callous or if you have a bonafide soft tissue misuse, if its the latter it may warrant a biopsy.

If you fractured: Your left foot when younger I would doubt what you are complaining about now is related to it. Hard lumps could be anything from corns to warts etc, would really need to see them to give a more accurate diagnosis. If you can't post a pic then see a doctor in person.

This may get better!: Though it's been six weeks, it is still a bit early in the overall healing process. The small hard lump you describe may be a soft tissue reaction related to the fracture. Hopefully, it is not the bone itself that has healed with prominence. The former will improve over time. The latter will remain and might require a small surgical procedure to remove this bone prominence in the future as needed.

You should : Have it evaluated. You likely need an xray...how do you know you didnt fracture something that is now causing a problem?

Could be either: A painful, swollen big toe joint that occurs from time to time is likely to be gout or other type of arthritis. A permanent bump that is more painful after wearing shoes all day is more likely to be a bunion.  By your description, bunion is more likely. See an orthopedic foot doctor or podiatrist for an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

Possible cyst: May be a cyst, which is a small fluid filled structure. They can develop in many different areas of the body. If the area isn't painful and if it doesn't grow larger, you can probably ignore it. However if it grows larger haver a doctor check it.

You should: Go to a podiatrist to have it evaluated. It may be a ganglion ic cyst which is benign, but either way it should be biopsied, aspirated or removed in some capacity.

Can't see it.: Without seeing it I am just guessing, but most lumps on toes are not cause for big concern.  I suspect you may have a bunion or corn or even callus.  Digital mucus cysts and ganglia can show up there as well.  Sometimes osteophytes and neuromas.  More info please.
