A few things: Can be an abscess from a tooth, a swollen lymph node, enlarged salivary gland, thyroid mass, cyst, tumor, etc. Whatever it is, not normal. See ENT doc ASAP.

i have a hard lump just under my right ear, between my jawbone and my neck muscle. it has been there for at least a year. could it be smth serious?

Lymph node: It sounds like an enlarged lymph node.If there has been no change in a year, and there are no other ones in the neck, its probably benign.It's always a good idea to point it out to your doctor at your next visit.

Neck: A pulled neck muscle can cause a lump at the base of your scull where the neck muscles insert, but not on top of your head where there are no muscles.

Lump in neck: There are many possibilities. It could be a cyst, a pimple, a lipoma, or a lymph node, or even a tumor. Most of these are things you should not worry about. But just to be sure what it is and how to proceed, I would advise you to go see your primary physician and have him exam it.

Possibly: It is most unlikely it is a meningioma. However, i assume you are female, and women with thyroid nodules should have additional evaluation (fine needle aspiration of the thyroid or neck nodule) since they do have a higher incidence of thyroid disease than men. No matter the gender, this needs to have additional evaluation.

Unlikely: May be muscle you are feeling.  Doubt malignancy if ct scan normal.  Hope this helps.

Inside: Discs are way inside.  Even if they bulge, you can't feel a lump from the outside. Must be something else.  Possibly a lymph node?

can throat cancer be detected during a upper endoscopy for gerd? does gerd increase the risk of throats cancer? i'm 24 and i feel a hard lump in neck

Not detected: GERD requires lower endoscopy and on rare occasion reaches vocal cord area causing laryngopharyngitis  , that part of the pharynx behind the voice box.  Throat cancer involves nasopharynx. oropharynx and to some degree hypopharynx,  all areas essentially missed on lower endoscopy.  An oral, digital exam can detect pharyngeal Ca mostly by palpation and then bx.  If lump in neck have it checked.
