Depends for how long: Depending on the location of your ganglion cyst, it's possible that some sensory nerve branches may have been stretched, causing a temporary numbness. It is not a common occurrence, but it could happen. It should be temporary. You should discuss this issue with your surgeon.

Nocturnal tingling: of the hands usually is due to carpal tunnel syndrome. It's not uncommon to see carpal tunnel in individuals who also have ganglion cycts. Have your neurologist do an EMG / NCS to clarify matters

See a specialist: Ganglion cyst have a relatively high recurrence rate after aspiration.  If it has recurred or if your symptoms are from something else you should be evaluated by a hand specialist - a surgeon (hand, general, orthopedic or plastic) who sees a lot of hand patients.

Either : Either the ganglion is pressing against a nerve, or mom was right, and the immobilizer you wore was, indeed, too tight.

Why suffer?  Go see a hand surgeon.  Ganglion cysts can be aspirated (drained) and sometimes, a little cortisone injected after the aspiration could prevent it from recurring (as they sometimes do).  If all else fails, the surgery to remove it is not terribly disabling or complicated.

Ganglion cyst dose: Not cause numbness but some time it cause pressure on the tract of the nerve which lead to numbness that usually will after the ganglion cyst treated.

Good sign: Dead nerve do not hurt.  The dysesthesia you describe means the nerve is working - just not too well.  It is trying to recover from injury.  It should recover with time and appropriate care.  You may use local anesthetic cream to help numb it during the recovery.
