A member asked:

I just had a hard, round bump appear on the back of my hand, between my thumb and my wrist. the bump itself is painless but i am experiencing some thumb and finger irritation/numbness. does this sound consistent with a ganglion cyst?

From your description, a ganglion cyst is a distinct possibility. You should see an orthopedic surgeon to diagnose it and discuss the treatment options. Removing it surgically may be needed to relieve the symptoms you are experiencing. So, see an orthopedic surgeon. Best of luck to you!

Could be a ganglion, or perhaps a metacarpal boss, a lump at the base of the metacarpal bone where it articulates with the carpal bones i reccomend you see a hand surgeon if it is symptomatic
