what is the difference between thorazine, haldol, (haloperidol) and ativan?

Classes and Actions: Thorazine & Haldol are antipsychotic or neuroleptic medications. They are prescribed for psychosis and sometimes for agitation. An old name is major tranquilizer. They are not particularly fun to take. Ativan is a benzodiazapine, like are valium and xanax (alprazolam). 
They have been called minor tranquilizers, have sedative properties and can be abused and addictive. Ativan is used for anxiety and agitation.

my wife has parkinson's disease in her family. so how dangerous is it for her to be taking haldol (haloperidol) and ativan?

Not enough data: Haldol (haloperidol) in sensitive people may give a side effect pseudo-Parkinson (tremors, stiffness, etc.)
Ativan is anti-anxiety and have no relation to Parkinson.
There are few other medications to substitute Haldol (haloperidol) for a less look-alike Parkinson.

i have taken valium, haldol, (haloperidol) and ativan to get through a ct scan due to my claustrophobia. no success. please help?

CT Scan and Anxiety?: I am not sure i get this. A ct scan is not something that is commonly thought of as causing claustrophobia. Now, an MRI is the box with the loud banging....

If you took three different sedatives to get through your scan I am not sure what else would have helped.

i was given 5mg haldol, 5mg ativan and 50mg benadryl (diphenhydramine) im for hospital "agitation" i am 60, female, 106lbs. wasn't this too much ativan?

No: Not in a hospital environment. You are alive to talk about it here. The hospital doctors aggressively took care of you for your safety and comfort as well as that of others. You are fine and should be grateful for their assistance. They could have managed you by applying restraints and letting the psychosis or agitation rage on. I have never seen anyone harmed by 5 or even 10 mg of lorazepam.

Benzo: Ativan is a benzodiazepine drug. It is also known generically as lorazepam.

It has many uses including; to decrease anxiety, prevent seizures, relax muscles... 

Importantly, be careful, Lorazepam also has abuse potential.

Second line txmt. for severe behavioral disorders. in children. Used for Schizophrenia parental/depot IM therapy.  Used for Bipolar Disorder. Behavioral disorders in dementias, delirium. Works by blocking Dopamine 2 receptors. Works within 1 wk or takes several wks.

Both are benzos: Both Halcion (triazolam) and Ativan belong to the same pharmaceutical family - benzodiazepine. They differ in their half-life, and whether their metabolizes or break down products are active.

Not sure what you: Mean by "weird" side effects.  Ativan/lorazepam is cross reactive with alcohol, so you might feel drunk, dizzy or sleepy.
