RSD: RSD is now called chronic regional pain syndrome.  It is a clinical diagnosis but sometimes we use a bone scan that can help detect changes and then affected extremity.  I recommend to my patients the use of topical pain creams such as diclofenac and others.  I would also recommend evaluation by a rheumatologist.

i am 48 male and have mild skin burning sensation 247 in between wrist and elbow for last 3 mnths. my same left arm pains intensely when i lift load.

Could be nerve root: Your description sounds like a cervical nerve root problem.  Injury to the peripheral nerves exiting from your neck can cause pain, paresthesias (pins and needles), numbness, and/or weakness.  You would benefit from a consultation with your doctor to delve into this issue further.  Good luck to a quick recovery.

3 times the past week i have gotten a burning sensation that starts in my elbows and spreads over both arms, legs, and buttocks. skin becomes inflamed and swollen. no changes in diet, detergent, or soap.

Skin changes: You may be reacting to some substance in food,medications,supplements. True swelling and inflammation of the skin would be a serious situation seen in cellulitis and would result in severe symptoms like fever and other signs of toxicity. Nevertheless these symptoms warrant investigation by a physician.

Compression neuritis: may be from sleeping or rolling over on your arm. I assume that you have already had nerve conduction studies and blood testing for blood sugar and electrolyte imbalance?

Joint pain: Not sure. Need to see someone. Need labs and xray. The arm symptoms remind me of thoracic outlet syndrome but it's not common.

Sounds like PHN: Sounds like post herpetic neuralgia. Did u have lesions before these symptoms started. Sometimes he rash of shingles are less noticeable. Have your pcp check it out. If it is shingles the question is why you had an outbreak. It's common in th e, dearly who have compromised immune systems. But if you're  young- other causes of immune suppression need to be investigated. Stress can also trigger it.

Neuropathy: Sounds like a nerve problem, so we'd call it neuropathy. It can be caused by anything damaging a nerve. Shingles or herpes can do this, but if it has been going on for 2 weeks I'd expect there to be spots or bumps or something showing on the skin by now. It can also be caused by your immune system attacking the nerve or by the nerve being pinched in your spine or elsewhere. See your doc for help.
