i've had my gall bladder removed but still have the same pain. i've tried taking zantac (ranitidine) anf prilosec but it doesn't help feels like im having a heart at?

See your doctor: See your family doctor for a re-examination of your symptoms, as the gallbladder surgery did not resolve your symptoms. Many things from gastritis or stomach ulcer or pancreatitis or other issues may need to be assessed. Could also see and gastroenterologist too.

Yes: What people have issues with is digestion of fats when they have the gallbladder removed. However, problems with any food types have been noted, this however usually gets better after a couple of months after surgery.

Talk with you doctor: Ocasionally complications can arise after the galbladder is removed. This can include new stone formation or blockage in the bile duct, or a problem with the pancreas. Sometimes there is scar tissue that also causes a problem. You will need an evaluation, but if you are vomiting, turning yellow, have a fever, or if you have severe pain, an ER visit is reasonable.

Yes they can: In some individuals stones can develop in the duct between the liver and the intestine. The symptoms may be similar to having a gall bladder attack. See your Physician if you have symptoms

Depends: Minor pains mostly around the incisions will take a few weeks to resolve. Minor internal cramping and presurre discomforts sometimes associated with eating also resolves over a week or so. Severe internal pain needs to be evaluated by your surgeon. Contact your surgeon to ask questions.

Usually not: You may have a neuroma from your surgery. Look for another cause in any case

Possible problem: See the  surgeon!! Possibly early adhesions/ abscess/ infected wound

Talk to her doc: Why did your friend have gallbladder removal in the first place? Did they see gallstones? Was the symptoms suggestive of gallbladder disease? Sometimes the pain could be caused by something else so removing the gallbladder didn't address the issue? She might need to do more workup to find the cause of the problem and possible that the gallbladder didn't contribute to the initial pain. Speculative.

A gall stone: Gall stones can form in the bile ducts, after removal of gall bladder and such stones may pass through the biliary tract.  While not "gallbladder" stones as there is no gall bladder, stones in the biliary system are similar.

i have mild pain and several small stones in my gall bladder, with a hida scan ejection rate of 71%. do i still need to have my gallbladder removed?

Accepted Answer

No...: You don't have acute cholecystitis which would warrant having your gallbladder removed.  Your symptoms sound mild and perhaps could be debated if caused by the tiny stones in your gallbladder in the first place. There is no risk in waiting, so i suggest not going for surgery unless your symptoms worsen and all other possible causes have been ruled out.
