Typically bile: Yellow color in stool is likely from bile, indicating minor changes in rate of passage of stool through the GI tract. Antibiotic can cause this by changing the microbial flora of the gut. Yogurt with culture or probiotic may help replace "good" bacteria, but the yellow stool is not worrisome and not related to jaundice/liver disease.

Infection: If she has a urinary tract infection it should be treated with appropriate antibiotics. It can be diagnosed by a urinalysis,urine culture and colony count. The results of the culture take 24-48 hours, but if the physician is pretty sure it's a UTI, once the specimen is taken, antibiotics can then be started before results are ready. If the result shows no infection, the antibiotics can be stopped.

Doubtful: If you have a urinary tract infection your physician can confirm this and order appropriate medications.  Sometimes a person might get vaginal/ urethral irritation from chemicals that have been added to the bathwater for soaking.

No: If viral infection, antibiotic will still help peripherally through anti-inflammatory effect and preventing possible bacterial suprainfections. It will affect your gut microbiota.

this metronidazole is a dreadful antibiotic. hurts my gut. but will that get rid of infections?

Depends on…: What infection is being treated. If your doc prescribed it for a specific infection, it should work unless the infection is caused by a germ that is resistant. In such cases, the doc will culture the infection (if possible) to find out what abx works best. Avoid any alcohol (even mouthwash) with Metronidazole & use sunblock if going to be outdoors more than few minutes.

i have chronic prostatitis (not caused by infection) and my doctor wants to do a urolift to alleviate urine flow. would urolift aggravate my prostatitis?

: This is one of several surgical options to treat benign prostatic hypertrophy, and may alleviate urinary symptoms.  But do discuss, with your urologist,  in detail, all to the various approaches, and include the potential complications and adverse reaction possibilities.

BV? Trichomonas?: The main causes of vaginal discharge with odor are 1) bacterial vaginosis, an overgrowth of mostly normal bacteria; and 2) trichomonas, an STD. Both are treated with metronidazole or tinidazole. See your doctor to learn the cause, get treated, and probably tested for other STDs. (Gonorrhea and chlamydia are more common in women with both BV and trichomonas.) Good luck.

Multiple factors: Women are far more likely to develop this than men because of the short urethra and its anatomic relationship of the outlet to the perineum which may be contaminated with multiple microorganisms. The most common bacteria is e. Coli, followed by a coagulase negative staphylococcus. Complex subject.

Depends on amount: How much blood? Visible to you, just on a chemical dipstick test, or abnormal # red blood cells on microscopic exam of urine. Only of concern if visible or abnormal cells on micro. Numerous causes: if micro cells, often no serious cause; microscopic disease of kidney tissue; stones, trauma, vigorous exercise/running; tumor/cancer - rare at your age; infection.
