i'm just curious i had covid back in march. within weeks i noticed mild dysphagia(feels like a piece of bread stuck one side) and a nodule on left side of neck/throat within last 4 days. even with a fam history of thyroidism. could covid be the cause?

: Covid could be the cause of an enlarged lymph node, if that is what is causing your symptoms. If this continues, you should see your doctor to have this evaluated. You may need to see GI for the swallowing difficulty. If the lymph node is enlarged from Covid, this should gradually decrease in size. Good luck!

sore ear which is making the whole right side of my head down to my neck sore, also gurgling throat now and then plus constant runny nose, what is it?

See your doc...: This could be simple otitis media (middle ear infection) due to virus but symptoms of external ear pain and involvement of neck with lymph nodes/tenderness needs an in-person exam and visual inspection of the ear canal and posterior throat with your physician ASAP. Antibiotics may be needed and close follow up. Let your parent or guardian know what is going on and seek physician evaluation ASAP.

Possibly: If the front of your neck is tender to touch you might HAV a form of thyroiditis. See a thyroidologist.

: By far, as much as patients say they are not over eating it is the most common reason for weight gain. There are uncommon hormone issues, side effects of medications , and depression

Yes: Other common causes of dysphagia ( sense of something stuck in throat ) are allergies with post nasal drip and acid reflux which may occur without heartburn. Thyroid can be evaluated with us and allergies or reflux with over the counter medications from pharmacy.

Maybe: Inflammation of the thyroid can give some patients significant neck/throat symptoms. But generally most thyroid nodules are without symptoms. And most thyroid dysfunction results in general symptoms rather than local symptoms (throat issues).

Goiter?: It depends on the reason for the enlarged thyroid goiter being the most common. I suggest you start by seeing a doctor getting an ultrasound and blood work. Based on those there are several treatment options.

Probably OK: Some swelling in the area of the incision is normal for many weeks to months after thyroidectomy.  However, if there is any significant redness or tenderness, this can be a sign of infection and needs to be evaluated.

on a recheck of my thyroid and i noticed my thyroid size is going up my isthmus when up from normal .21 from 2019 to 2.7 in 2021 and 3 mm in 23. thyroid rl 4.7 and 4.1 i have complaints about feeling like something stuck in throat when shallowing?

: You should check with the doctor who ordered the test for interpretation. If there is concern about the thyroid, you can see an endocrine doctor for evaluation. You should also have thyroid function tests done. Good luck to you!
