Day or two...: Without more details, I suggest NSAID's prn and it should resolve in 24-48 hours. The sensitivity is usually due to the soft tissue trauma from the procedure(s).

Could be: By aggressive teeth cleaning, i'm assuming deep teeth & gum cleaning (scaling & root planing). Healthy gums do not bleed but if you haven't been flossing properly, regularly & you've just had a deep cleaning, it's not uncommon to have sore gums & bleeding for a couple of weeks. Hopefully, your dentist/hygienist has given you good oral hygiene instructions. If still bleeding after 2 wks, get seen.

Contact your dentist: The dentist or hygienist removes the hardened material, calculus that attaches to the teeth, above and below the gums. After the removal of the calculus, if it was extensive, you may feel spacing.  If you feel that recession is evident, a consultation with a periodontist may be needed.  See your dentist, for your specific scenerio to be addressed.

Possible: Moraxella catarrhalis is a normal bacteria in most people's upper respiratory system.  Antibiotic treatment will cure your infection.

Probably a bruise: A dark spot on the gum appearing shortly after dental work may be due to an "bruise" of the gum.  A spontaneous dark area on the gum, or a dark spot after dental work which does not go away within a few weeks should be investigated by a doctor.  RARELY, melanoma or other cancers can appear this way.

No, it is not normal: I would suggest you go to a dentist and have a thorough exam with radiographs of your teeth and jaws.  Bleeding gingiva is not normal.  It may be a something that is simple to treat or it may be more complicated.

Not the best: It is always best to see a dentist and determine what is going on and get a perscription for the most appropriate antibiotic and not use something that you had leftover from another infection in a different part of your body.  This is not the drug of choice to treat an oral infection. It  will not cure your infection.  You  need dental treatment now.
