my son has been making these odd grunting and throat noises. he says he hes not in pain and can breath fine theres no signs of breathing issues or illness but involuntarily grunting and throat sounds that he does repetitively?

: I would speak to his pediatrician about the pattern. Write down when you 1st noticed it and all its featured. This is an age when simple tics can emerge. Some can be minor and disappear on their own in a few months. Others can become a lifelong issue.

Breathing : Anything from a cold with a bit of congestion to airway obstruction, also heart disease may have respiratory problems, it depends if there are other signs and symptoms such as cough or shortness of breath.   If it is a recurring problem or you have other symptoms i urge you to consult your  doc.

Ozone: See what the manufacturer says. Sometimes older ones produce too much ozone which is an irritant. Certain room sizes may be required for proper dilution of the ozone.

Need more info: Do you smoke, are you short of breath? There are a few other things that may cause your complaint. Please make an appointment with your family physician for an exam and maybe get a chest x-ray.

Yes: Frequently babies breath faster and make a little sr ound when feeding, they have to coordinate breathing and swallowing, so little noise is normal. Choking or sweating,  on the other hand, may mean lack of coordination or a number of possible anatomical or functional alterations  or a heart problem

Delay: The kid has a fraction of the normal word output for age. Poor communication skills is often met with behavioral problems when they are frustrated they cannot get their needs met. The problem or problems can only be defined after a thorough review of history, physical exam and tests.

Could be a problem: Changes in breathing for a 5 month old can indicate that there is a problem. See a Dr if the problem persists for 3 days or longer. See a Dr if the gasping sound is accompanied by rapid breathing, coughing, wheezing, face/lips turning blue, flared nostrils, or neck sinking in with inhale.

Usually time: Tracheomalacia is immature development with resultant soft trachea, cartilage not s hard.Most causes are seconday to pressure in utero by either blood vessels (vasc ring), interruption in esophagus (atresia) cocngenital tumor, pressing on  trachea. Idiopathic tracheomalacia can occur and causes noisy breathing that usually disappears by approx.. With idiopathic noise is usually worse than symptoms.
