Chances are: greatest that you have had Rubella although the 'Grey Zone" my represent distant infection/Vaccination. DID YOU HAVE A MMR VACCINE whewn you were a Baby. This was generally available i n Lebanon.

In any case try to avoid people with rashes/fever and i  a few weeks more the Rubella anxiety will be over! NOTE that after your child is born you should receive a BOOSTER MMR!!!!!!

Rubella virus: Virus exposures can elevate IgM antibodies (showing recent exposure to the rubella virus) or with previous exposure, provide IgG antibody positives. The critical element with rubella is whether exposure occurred during an early pregnancy. "Re-testing" is done to see if the IgM antibodies are rising, indicating if pregnant whether the chance for fetal infection is present.

Should be positive: Igm is the immunoglobulin noted for coming out early in response to any illness or vaccine, it fades over time while igg come out a bit later and stays up longer. If your wife had a rubella vaccine a positive IgM indicates she had a good response to the vaccine and future pregnancies will not be at risk.

Rubella IgM: If the IgM was negative "a year ago", and now is "1:28" it indicates exposure to Rubella virus.  Get another IgM test in a week, and if rising , it may indicate an active Rubella infection in the first trimester (10 weeks pregnant).  If negative or even not rising (still at 1:28) there is minimal likelihood of an effect on the fetus.

Yes: In general, a + rubella igg means you are immune and the baby is safe. That said, your husband should be extremely careful about maintaining goo hand hygiene and avoiding unnecessary contact until his infection is resolved.

: IgM is present at the time of infection and IgG denotes you have had the infection or vaccine in the past and  is of no worry now. If you had no symptoms of Rubella recently or have had it before then it  (IgM)could be false positive- have it repeated. Rubella infection during pregnancy affects the fetus negatively- that is why it is important to know. Good luck

Vaccine update: There is some variation from lab to lab so you should confirm with your doctor. It appears to me that your results show you are non immune to Rubella and that your MMR vaccine is out of date. After you have the baby your doctor will want you to get another MMR vaccine booster so that you will be protected.
