Stage IV: Without treatment stage IV melanoma has a very bad prognosis. Especially if the cancer has spread to the internal organs or brain.  Even with treatment cure are very rare. Melanoma is best treated with surgery at an early stage. Early melanoma can be cured with surgery.

Stage dependent : Thin, early stage melanoma is treated just by removing a zone of skin.  This is rather inexpensive compared to thevtreatment for later stage disease which requires brain MRI and pet scans.

Depends: Currently, surgical excision is the standard of care.  However, depending on the stage of a patient's melanoma there are some new treatments that may show promise for the future. Vemurafenib is one such treatment, but it is used in a very specific set of patients. Melanoma vaccines are also theoretically possible but have not been very successful to date.

Yes: It has been used successfully in  advanced solid tumors such as melanoma. As tor the long term success or whether it is always successful I don't have that answer. Good luck

Depends: Small or medium tumors can be treated locally with laser, cryotherapy, or local radiation therapy called plaque brachytherapy. Small tumors in the front of the eye may be amenable to surgical excision. Treatment of large tumors causes too much damage to the eye and removing the eye is often recommended. All individuals with a diagnosis of intraocular melanoma should be evaluated for metastasis.
