HPV, genital warts: Since you and your husband have been having sex regularly, you already have been infected with whatever HPV infections that he has. If pap smears and HPV vaccine are available to you, discuss both with your doctor. But if no symptoms so far, probably nothing bad has happened or will happen in the future. Not necessarily: It is rarely necessary to remove the cervix to treat HPV or problems caused by it. Most HPV infections go away on their own. For severe HPV dysplasia, less drastic surgery, cautery, etc usually is sufficient. When the cervix is infected with HPV, the virus usually also has infected other tissues, like vagina, labia, etc. Treating the cervix does nothing for HPV at these sites.

There : There in cure for hpv. The good news is that the strains that cause warts do not cause cervical cancer. However you need to continue with yearly pap smears.
 If you are worried about speading the virus, or contracting other strains for that matter, you should use condoms with any new partners. : Strains of HPV are site specific to the areas they can grow. Genital strains are specific to that location/type of skin and don't cause warts or other infection on other skin surfaces. These germs do not spread like simple staph or strep germs.

Everyone should be vaccinated who qualifies for the vaccine (that solves most of the problem). Then, people at high risk for HPV cancers or warts can get periodic exams. For men, there are visual exams, but not a screening lab test in the US.

Usually difficult: To know this, you would need to know when the infection originated and have a very detailed sexual history. HPV persists after infection whether you have any symptoms or not so knowing when you were infected is usually very difficult to impossible. Symptoms can also take months or years to show up so this further compounds the problem. If you've had very limited partners, this becomes easier.
