Wrong grading system: Meniscal tears are not graded in this fashion.  There must be some misunderstanding.  Meniscal tears can be medial or lateral or both.  They have a specific shape or type of tearing.  They can be repairable or non-repairable.  If the meniscus has been fixed or repaired, usually regular activities can be resumed after healing.

Yes eventually: If you are currently being treated for a meniscus tear, it would be wise to avoid soccer for the time being until you have completed treatment.  In the long run, once you have healed, you should be able to return to soccer, but just keep in mind that every year we get older, our bodies become a little more susceptible to injuries. Meniscus : Just watch it for now. Try an nsaids and avoid any exercise that makes it hurt. A grade 2 signal is a finding on a MRI but it does not represent a complete tear which is a grade 3

The cartilage as you know does not regrow. Over weeks the area will heal and pain will go away.  You may have knee instability. Use a knee brace from pharmacy if that is useful. Take OTC ibuprofen if pain. As always see a doctor for complete care.

Sometimes they can tear through degeneration or injury.  The term residual means that there is “still” a tear; suggesting a persistent tear.  This term can be used if someone has had prior surgery, or even if they have had a previous mri to compare to.

Meniscus tear: Meniscus tear really depends on what symptoms you have. If you are able to walk with minimal pain and go up and down stairs then I would leave it alone. PT may be helpful. Sometimes the knots of the wound might trap a nerve and cause pain.
