See details: An MRI can identify urate crystals inside a joint. If there is damage there can be erosive changes noted on MRI that are very suggestive of gout.

think i have gout in my knee. painful to straighten leg, swelling in leg, can't walk, seems fine when i sit down. taking ibuprofen. been 3 days now.

R U certain?: Are you certain it is gout? That is a very rare issue in a premenopausal woman. See a rheumatologist. If you do have you need to be on allopurinol to prevent attacks.

In general no: in general no but gout deposits of monosodium urate can be present in many locations, including around a joint in the tendons if not in the joint. Your physician can help clarify this  or have  you see a rheumatologist who can clarify the findings. The  diagnosis  of gout in a  joint is made by demonstrating the presence of the monosodium urate crystals in the joint.

i have gout since 8th in my knee.still vey painful and knee is very stiff.using cortisone for pain as needed.is this too long for. a gout episode?

Re-evaluation: Sounds more like a knee problem due to arthritis.  Go to a different doctor, take your meds and see if there is some change.
Gout is treatable but newer meds are more useful. Better options available if you know for certain it is due to gout.

Possibly: Gout is an acute arthritis that causes intense inflammation and pain. You need to see a rheumatologist. The only way the diagnosis can be confirmed is to take fluid from the knee and for the presence of urate crystals in it.  The longer your knee has hurt, the less likely it is to be gout.

Yes it can/keep Tx.,: Yes it can happen.  Many gout attacks occur even when the blood uric acid is at normal levels.  This is often the sign of an attack or an impending attack.  The best thing to do is continue therapy and keep on doing things like eating a balanced diet, losing weight and avoiding triggers like a lot of red meat and alcohol that can cause a flare up and see your doctor if there's still lots if pain.

i get it  every two months!

If your symptom is caused by increasing use of your knee, you may have the common patellofemoral pain syndrome or runner's knee.  Talk to your doc to get the definitive diagnosis and appropriate treatment.

Let me explain: It sound to me you have bad case of gout in early age, you may have a family history of it. Also you have something else.
