i was bit by a cat 2 hours ago on my left thumb and i've noticed it's very swollen and extremely painful. should i seek medical attention?

Yes, today: From your description it is likely that you have an infection and it is spreading. Now, you could say that you want to go natural and let your body handle it. When patients tell me that in my office I mention to them that they are wearing clothes and that that's not natural. Get thee to a doc as soon as possible and if you don't recall when you last had a tetanus shot, get one!

i have had a very painful area  at the  top left area on my left thumb. this started 3 days ago, and i have not injured it in any way. can you help?

Need more info.: Is the area of concern warm?  Red?  Tender to the touch?  Any drainage from the area?  Recent manicure?  Have you picked at your fingernail or bitten your cuticle recently?  Without trauma, this could represent an infection or inflammatory arthritis.  Given the possibility of an infection, a doctor's visit is in order.

i've been experiencing a spasm in my left thumb, and i keep feeling a jerk like movement in the thumb. it's not painful, but is definitely annoying as?

Muscle spasm: or tic or fasciculation.  Suggests some nerve might have gotten pinched or a muscle is not happy.  Very unlikely to be serious unless something is also happening in your hand or arm or if it comes on at the same time as head/neck pain on the same side.  If so, see a clinician.

both of my thumbs are locking at the joint .very painful . the right started first now the left is locking.. what could it be ?

Trigger : Sounds like trigger finger/thumb. Hopefully all your other joints and faculties are working. I'd see your primary for some therapy/shots or surgical referral

See doctor: Considering the symptoms you describe, it is possible you have an infection of your nailbed, which could be spreading - also known as "paronychia". You should see a doctor ASAP to get evaluated, as it may require antibiotics or drainage, and could get worse without it. In the meantime, apply warm soaks to your thumb at least 3x/day. If fever, go to ER. Best wishes.

Arthritis or break: There are 3 bones in your thumb: two in the digit and one in the hand. Pain where the digit meets the hand could be in the joint (arthritis) or one of the thumb's tendons. Pain at the point where the bone in the hand meets the wrist could be a wrist fracture. These are sometimes missed on initial x-rays after an injury. Either way, you need an x-ray of the thumb, hand & wrist.

Thumb pain: Consider sprain, contusion, tendonitis, or neuritis. Try ice, purified omega, rest, activity modification tip better.
