The best way to increase muscle is to do free weights slowly in a controlled manner, adding weights with each set and working different groups on different days.  Do a cardio work out before to increase the work out challenge if you are advanced.  You will also need protein to help build muscle.

No: A combination with aerobic and anaerobic excessive is good for you. Muscle mass will increase your metabolic rate.  You need to consult your physician before and avoid drugs to enhance muscle mass like anabolic steroids. I personally weight lift 45 minutes 4 times a week.

Ease up: Perhaps you need to ease up on the training by reducing the frequency to every other day with varying routines.  The pain is the body's warning to you that you are over-stressing your muscles.  One needs also to scrutinize your technique which may not be correct.  Talk to the trainer in the gym to find out whether you are doing it right.

my son had a virus last week and his wbc were 15.4. off and on he has been c/o of back/leg pain. he has poor posture/poor muscle strength, two hematologist reviewed labs and said they were not consistent w/ leukemia and not worried. i still am! help?

: Listen to them.  A wbc does not make a diagnosis of leukemia make.
