hello, i'm trying to get rid of or mitigate a big red bump on my forehead that seems to be cystic acne.  is there any treatment that could help?

Grieving Time: Hello, 
Once you get a big one,  my recommendation is to first GRIEVE as this lump is likely not going away in the next 48 hours.  This grieving process will decrease stress and prevent the downward spiral.  
Then,  attack it with full fury with hot compresses many times a day and dry it up a bit. You also have the option of a cortisone injection.   Better prevention is key.

Forehead bumps: It depends on what is causing the bumps. Acne? Allergic v. Non-allergic rash? You can start with a visit to your primary physician for evaluation and treatment.

Forehead Bump: You can put ice on it to help the swelling, but like all injuries it has to heal.  There is no magic medication to make it go away.

Salt water compress: T. Salt water compress might help but it sounds like you might have a residual cyst or fibroma from the trauma. Best to see a dermatologist for treatment.

More info needed: Are the bumps red, raised, infected or just little tiny bumps.  How long have they been there?  New soaps, laundry detergents, medications or cosmetics?
might try washing with a gentle soap and wash cloth three times a day.  if no better in day or so, suggest visit with dermatologist.

Surgical removal: The bump you had initially seems to be an infected sebaceous cyst (oil gland). The  infection is gone without coming to head. When this happens it often leaves behind a firm cyst. The skin on it also often looks dark.  Over a period of time it usually gets smaller and may go away. The  best way to get rid of it is surgical removal, more for the  cosmetic reasons, often  not covered by   insurances

Rubbing alcohol: Most heat bumps will disappear when you go into a cool environment.  So if you have true heat bumps find a room with a good air conditioning system.  In addition, rubbing alcohol two times each day helps.

Sebaceous Hyperplasi: Without seeing your skin it is difficult to make a diagnosis but the lesions you describe could be sebaceous hyperplasia.Sebaceous hyperplasia is a common, benign condition of sebaceous glands in adults of middle age or older. Lesions can be single or multiple and manifest as yellowish, soft, small papules on the face (particularly nose, cheeks, and forehead).
