what are the chances of getting pregnant on metformin? pcos. i had a panel of blood tests done (to test for fertility). everything was normal, except for my testosterones, which is just a little above normal, so high but not extreme. not diabetic?

: While "PCOS" frequently will be accompanied by non-ovulation, making pregnancy and menstruation  rare to absent, a slight elevation in testosterone is not unusual in true PCOS, but occasional ovulation may occur.  Obtain a referral to a reproductive endocrinologist for possible ovulation induction and other fertility testing if pregnancy is desired.

30%-40%: Around 80% of women on Clomid (clomiphene) will ovulate but only 30%-40% will actually become pregnant.  Best wishes!

Maybe: If your periods are regular, then you should also be ovulating regularly which will certainly improve your chances for conceiving.

Pregnancy: Pregnancy at your age is not common but does happen.
Metformin has nothing to do with that other than help keep your blood sugar levels under control.

Are you ovulating?: That question for patients with PCOS who are trying to get pregnant is to determine if ovulation is occurring or not. your doctor can do testing. Intercourse should occur around ovulation. If you are not doing official ovulation then have sex frequently especially between cycle day 10-20.

You ovulate only 1/M: So cannot conceive any faster than that. Talk to your Fertility specialist and have patience and faith.

Chances: The chances of becoming pregnant are based upon age. At peak the best chances are about 35% per month but dramatically decreases with age and other conditions. With your case you may have other conditions that may be interfering with that rate. Make sure you have an adequate testing of your fallopian tubes, partners semen and ovulation.

can you tell me about it's like to take the drug metformin to help with pcos and getting pregnant?

Bloating: Metformin has some side effects such as bloating, diarrhea, and Gastrointestinal issues. 

When used in the right patients (Insulin resistance) then it can help with fertility. 

Metformin is no longer recommended as a single agent to treat fertility. You should be using another medication like Clomid (clomiphene) or Clomid (clomiphene) alone without metformin.

Sure: These can be taken together but i would clarify with your doctor why you are taking inositol and what it is supposed to help.
