i have a 2months old baby boy i am struggling low milk production he doesn't get enough milk from me i fed to my baby cow's milk for the 1st month then converted to formula milk is it safe to infants any side effects i want to improve milk production?

Increase milk produc: It's important to understand that your body is uniquely able to make milk especially for your baby and that it can easily increase how much milk (think about women who can nurse twins!). It does take 36-48 hours to see increase however. This means increasing how often and how long you nurse your baby, will feedback to you producing more milk. Please do NOT feed your infant cow's milk!

Look for these...: Look for signs of hydration, like good urine output, most mouth and eyes, tears with crying. Also, look for adequate stools. Babies who are getting adequate milk (and who are otherwise well) usually seem satisfied after feedings, have adequate alert, awake periods, and grow normally along standard growth curves.

Content & gaining wt: If your baby is getting enough milk, he/she will be content between feedings, will urinate at least 6-7 times in 24 hours and will pass at least 1 stool per day.  He/she will also lose no more than 10% of birth weight in the first week and will gain it back by 2 weeks of age.  Once weight gain is established, the baby will gain about an ounce a day during the first several weeks.

If baby gets enough.: If breastfed infant gets enough milk, baby generally sleeps more than 2 hours after feeding, wets more than 5 diapers a day, and gains at least 20 gm a day ( in the first 6 months).

Urine: By how many wet diapers she has in a 24 h period. Also, by evidence of weight gain. After a 3-5 days of breast feeding, your baby should have at least 6 wet diapers a day (note: how many stool, does not matter!).

Common complaint: Do you feel your breast get softer after she nurses? If so, you have enough milk. By one month, if you are exclusively nursing, she should be getting enough milk. But your pediatrician can confirm that by weighing her and compare with the previous weight. She should have wet diapers several times a day. If not, try a bottle, if she quiets down after, then she was hungry. See her doctor.

Feeding: You can enhance your breast milk by pumping and increasing your fluid intake. If you want to give the formula, similac is a good option, sometimes the children don't like the taste, try it first thing in the morn, when the baby is really hungry.

do you have any suggestions for helping a 10.5 month old transition from breast to bottle or sippy cup? i'm fearful he isn't getting enough milk.

Now my toddler...: An infant this age is getting more and more of their nutrition from solids and does not need as much milk/formula/nur s ing.  I would NOT wean to a bottle.  I would work right to sippy cup at this age. Only need 16 ounces a day if eating solids, so 4 ounces each meal and at bedtime will do! Or zippy at meals and nurse at bedtime - the options are plentiful.  Be patient while child learns the skill

Breast feeding: A baby can get enough milk from one breast.Babies can sleep 16-20 hours as newborns.

Fussy baby: I'm assuming your baby is young. Babies can cry alot and if your breast feeding and you see milk and gulping and he is having many stools and urine, he's probably fed well . There are some things that can cause fussy baby , immaturity, reflux, infection and more i think you should call your pediatrician and have him seen now.
