While symptom control for heartburn can be accomplished with above combination ( you or the patient should be best to report), the medium to long range goals involve stopping progression of Barrett's or controlling it and serial upper endoscopies may answer that question.

GERD & Infections: The number one cause of ulcers and heartburn in many cultures is infection with a bug known as h. Pylori. Your doctor should be testing you for this infection.

i have barretts. famotodine not available. gp not keen on ppis due to cancer risk. been prescribed gaviscon advance - is this ok or am i running risk of barretts getting worse

Should be fine: Hiprex should not cause acid reflux typically, in some people it can cause nausea or upset stomach. If after taking it for a few days you do notice any worsening of acid reflux then stop it and it should resolve but it should be safe.

can gaviscon advance help with mild gastritis? i treated h. pylori a couple if months ago, but symptoms came back after eating an ice cream. im planning to get retested but in the meantime id like to sleep better?

: Gaviscon is helpful in acid reflux as it contains alginic acid which makes a floating layer over gastric contents, protecting surroundings from effect of gastric acid. Hope it helps.

i have barretts and my gp has prescribed famotidine and gaviscon advance due to the risk of stomach cancer with omeprazole. ultimately it is my choice which to take. which is most aggressive - oesophageal or stomach cancer?

: Barret's esophagus can be a precursor to esophageal cancer.  I is best treated with sitting upright for at least 4 hours following your meals, avoid liquids prior to reclining.  Omeprazole is good to take in AM and 4 PM .  Gaviscon Liquid 30cc. at bedtime.  Follow up with your PCP for assistance.
