Depends on the cause: Gastritis is often associated with H. pylori infection, which can ultimately cause gastric ulcers and even cancer.  I recommend Mastic Gum, available from a health food store.  Mastic gum kills H. pylori, and heals gastric and duodenal ulcers.  It is a great gastric pain reliever as well.  Usual dose is 1,000 mg per day for two weeks, but you can take it indefinitely, as it is completely non-toxic

Stop the cause..: Body will heal itself if you stop the offending agent. Alcohol, spicy hot food, chillies, aspirin, nsaids, acidic and sour food to be avoided. Timely food habit helps. Cold bland food helps healing. Can add tums (calcium carbonate).

That depends: On what your eating mostly.  Certain foods will cause an increased risk of gastritis.  Eating in excess can cause obesity, and on a rare occasion an increase in acid secretion that may lead to a gastritis, but overeating in general is not a major risk factor for gastritis.

Cause=Cure: Gastritis just means "inflammation of the stomach."  there are many causes of this from medications, like Aspirin and advil, (ibuprofen) to a bacteria, called h. Pylori.  Most of the time gastritis is temporary and can be treated so that you will be able to return to your normal diet.  Find out the cause, and you'll find out the cure.

Not necessarily : Data for selenium pills is not favorable  at all. The meds we know heal gastritis are Proton Pump Inhibitors like nexium, (esomeprazole) Prilosec, Prevacid, etc.. But the key is to avoid foods and irritants that keep leading to higher acid levels-tomato based products, vinegar, citrus, alcohol, cigarettes, chocolate, spearmint/peppermint, spicy foods, hot temp foods.

Chronic gastritis: The majority of patients with chronic gastritis, if not due to H.pylori or pernicious anemia, are usually asymptomatic. So curing this problem is in general not necessary.
 Just be sure you have been tested for H. Pylori and have had a Vitamin B12 level done.

Possibly: Studies for Zinc Carnosine are between. 75 and 150 mg dose with the latter one being more effective. The main issue from a strict scientific standpoint is that the numbers in the studies were not that many people. Proton pump inhibitors have best studies behind them-Nexium, Prilosec, Prevacid (lansoprazole).

it decreases the acid so you can heal but . . .
Take in the am before breakfast
one daily
don't skip
and take for at least 6-8 weeks!
