See below: Gallstones can cause mild symptoms such as upper abdominal gas bloating and pressure discomfort after eating. Sometimes there can be more pain in the right upper and middle upper abdomen with nausea and vomiting, worse after eating fatty foods. Sometimes the pain will go into the upper back. Sometimes yellow jaundice with abdominal pain could happen if the gallstones move into the bile ducts.

No.: About 1/3 of the time, people will feel the most intense pain in the upper middle abdomen or lower chest.  In fact, it is not uncommon to mistake a gallbladder attack for a heart attack.  When in doubt, go to an er!

Not the best: choice, especially after childbirth. Starvation is a very poor option. Avoid fried, fatty, greasy foods. Eat healthy fruits &amp; vegetables and small amounts of lean meats. That should help the discomfort. See a doctor or a General Surgeon regarding gallbladder surgery.

Not positional: You might feel better with your knees drawn up, but if you are having a gallbladder attack you should be evaluated. This can lead to cholecystitis and cholangitis (which requires urgent intervention). You should consider electively having your gallbladder removed if you continue to have these symptoms to prevent recurrences.

Let me explain: Most gallstones do not cause problems. But if they block a duct, they usually need treatment. 
When gallstones keep blocking a bile duct , you may have pain with fever and chills. Or your skin or the whites of your eyes may turn yellow. Call your doctor right away. Having stones in your bile duct increases your chance of having a swollen pancreas (pancreatitis).

Depends entirely: Upon degree and acuity of inflammation.  Biliary colic can be intermittent, but it usually lasts 6-8 hours.  If gallbladder becomes acutely infected and inflamed, pain is usually constant and severe.  Consult a surgeon for specific answers in your specific case.

Right upper quadrant: Hh usually does not lead to pain, predominant symptom is reflux.  Biliary colic, gallbladder pain, usually happens after eating, can be sharp in the right upper abdomen and can cause back pain.  Usually described as worse than child birth.
