Sebaceous cyst?: An STD is a very unlikely cause of this sort of problem. More likely an inflamed (infected?) sebaceous cyst or something similar. See a doctor if it doesn't clear up in another week or so. Or sooner if it continues to enlarge, becomes sore, and ASAP if fever or spreading redness. (Your concern about STD suggests you may be at risk, so get tested to be safe. But not the cause of this problem.)

Friction blister: Intense rubbing can cause a blister, as can any friction on the skin if continued long enough. This kind of blister is most common after walking long distances or wearing a poorly-tuned new pair of shoes. Blisters are most common on the hands and feet, as these extremities are susceptible while walking, running, or performing repetitive motions.

Pro's/con's: If you can tolerate such a blister &amp; eliminate the issue that created it, the body can re-absorb the fluid over several days under a protected skin layer. If you open it you eliminate the protection provided by intact skin &amp; create an opening for germs to infect the area. If you can monitor that site closely  and keep it clean, the immediate pain relief may be worth it.

i had a friction blister on my penis and popped it without thinking. what should i do to treat it? neosporin?

Vaseline is better: I would avoid activity that would involve more friction with your penis for at least a week.  I would recommend applying vaseline or aquaphor ointment daily.  Neosporin might be okay, but I have seen many people have an allergic reaction to Neosporin.  Also, it's unusual to get a friction blister on the penis.  I would recommend having this evaluated by a dermatologist, especially if this recurs.

what to do if you popped a friction blister on your finger and realized it was filled with pus? is there anything i can do at home?

: Just keep the area clean and perhaps covered with a bandaid. See a doctor if the area or the finger becomes red or swollen.

i know the best advice for a friction blister is to just leave it be. i have one on my heal and its quite large. its preventing me from walking properly. is it safe to pop it with a sterile pin with alcohol? id then cover and bandage it. thoughts?

: There are over the counter bandages made specifically for blisters that are not popped. They are made of hydrocolloid and has antibacterial properties. You put it on the blister and it provides a cushion where there is friction. The skin of the blister is essentially dead and the bandage provides an environment for it to heal and less chances for scarring

Normal healing: When our bodies sustain an injury, the immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling). This is the body bringing healing factors to the area and also the veins expand to carry bad stuff away.  The nerves in the area respond to this inflammation in varying intensity as things heal from pain to itching and possibly with numbness.  This is a normal part of healing.

No: Blisters normally resolve in a few days. Redness and itching could indicate the blister is becoming secondarily infected. Stop applying the Hydrocortisone cream as this will enable infection. Get it checked promptly. You may need antibiotics.
