It takes: about 6 weeks for a fracture to heal. You can judge what kind of intensity of sports you are able to tolerate by how much pain you experience. If you are an amateur, take your time and allow your body to heal up.

Possibly: It could be, but also could just be bruised. If you are having significant pain go in and get it checked out by your doctor.

Depends: If you have only one or two fractured ribs, there isnt too much to do, and time is your best ally.  Breathing exercises and pain medication really is all you can do.  The pain should resolve over a span of approximately 3 months.

Thoracic compression: Rib pain is significant and lasts a long time. Compression of the thorax and splinting the injured ribs is helpful. It is the reason that you hold and press against your chest about the area of the fractured rib. Historically, rib binders were use. If you're female, and extra length paneled brassiere will help support the chest wall. For the fellas – ace wrapping or strapping. Beware pneumonia!

Prevent: Further injury to the lung by the broken rib. Once at the hospital or doctors office you may be told that no other treatment is needed if it's just one rib. Be seen by a physician.

Time : Time and pain meds. Other than that, operative rib fixation will decrease the time, but at the expense if operative risk, which is low. The procedure however is not frequently done, and you may have a tough time finding anyone who does it. Hope this helps!

Maybe: It's not uncommon to have aches and pains years after an injury. If it's mild, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's limiting your activities, or more severe, see you doctor for a more complete evaluation and ask in an X-ray it crashes scan is appropriate. Hope this helps!

Check with dr.: A completely broken rib can cause complications such as puncture of the lung or lacerations of vessels or internal organs. It depends on whether they are completely broken or cracked as well as which ribs. How about taking it easy for another week or two at least? Better check with dr before resuming training. It will also be very painful.

: Your fractured ribs should be healed by now. The callus may still be visible on chest x-ray and the broken ribs could be identifiable.
