my 5yo has grown in height great and weight great.. but her feet have been the same size for over a year. if she's growing then why not her feet?

Accepted Answer

Normal growth: Ask your pediatrician to review your child's height and weight.  Feet are a bit different and at 5, be grateful that she doesn't need new shoes as frequently as she will in a few years.   Feet don't have to grow very much.

Basically YES: to height, but feet and noses can slowly grow over time. (also the end of the chin).

Not really: There is no exact corelation.  I've seen guys who are six foot tall and their shoe size ranges from 7.5 to 14!

You're fine: Life is too difficult already to worry about whether your feet are disproportionately large. This is not a sign of any illness, and we're certainly not going to try to make them smaller. If somebody is claiming your feet are big, say you have a good "under-standing". If you are preoccupied with this, you might benefit from treatment for body dysmorphic disorder.

my feet recently grew from a size 10 to a 12 mens and im 57. a size 12 at my height is very big and was wondering if a growth spurt is going to happen? some context my brother wears the same size and hes 61. im 21?

: That is a big change in a short time and apparently foot size of 12 is quite big for your height. If you also note of a significant change in your hand size in the same period, you should see a doctor just to rule out certain endocrinologic disorder.  Growth spurt does not happen at 21 years old. Take care.

Breast reduction: There is not a nonsurgical way to reduce your breast size.  In certain patients, for example if your breasts are large but not fallen, liposuction might be an option.  See your plastic surgeon for a consultation to see which type of a reduction would most match your goals.

Varies somewhat: The mechanism by which the circumference of the wrist increases includes the growth of the bones that make up the wrist, the joint spaces in the wrist, and also the soft tissues of the wrist as well.  Bone growth in males can vary quite a bit anywhere usually between 14 and 21.  Muscle and tendon size vary with use.  Even elderly patients can have increase in wrist circumference due to arthritis.

Around 170: Around 170 is ok, but it depends a lot on one's body build and musculature.  At a routine check-up, the primary care doctor can assess if one's weight is too low, just right, or too high.

Comfortable: What weight do you feel comfortable carrying with your body.  You can always discuss this issue with your family doctor or check the insurance tables.

Yes: You may grow in height beyond 16. However, many factors like genetics, hormones, nutrition with influence how tall you will get.
