May have gotten a little human feces in corner of my eye (don't ask)  what can happen? blindness?

Your eye is really terrific at cleaning itself out.  You walk around all day with the eyes wide open and lots of stuff enters it unbeknownst to you and you experience no problem.  The small amount of feces you got in your eye will be washed out and the eye is extraordinarily unlikely to have a problem. Blindness is just not on the list at all.

Blindness can be legal (20/200 or less) or absolute (cannot see light even).  Eyes can inherit problems, get infected, traumatized and develop a host of diseases which can lower the vision such as diabetes, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, etc.   Take your pick.

What is the cause?  Was the eye sighted earlier in life and developed vision loss?  Was the eye injured or infected?  Did it have surgery?  Is there systemic disease.?  So many questions:  Ask your ophthalmologist for the answer and whether there is a possibility of vision to some degree.  As you might guess some can be cured and others cannot.

If an eye can not perceive light, then there is usually nothing that can be done to help.  If the eye can see light or movement, then there may be something to be done to improve the vision.  You need to see an eye doctor to determine the reason for the poor vision and to initiate appropriate therapy.

In general, neurologic injury that persists following hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy is permanent, although some degree of improvement may occur depending on the nature of the injury. Blindness associated with hie is not common, at least in newborns.

Blindness can range from "legally blind", 20/200 or less on the eye chart in both eyes, in which many people cope well for usual activities around the house, even reading print that is not too small with the help of magnifiying devices, to total blindness, not even seeing any light.  All "blind" patient have to give up driving. The degree of blindness affects the description.

There are many medical conditions that can cause temporary blindness.
